NIL warnings for Bay Of Plenty
Situation:
A ridge of high pressure over the area moves eastwards from Saturday as a low
approaches the country from the west. This low system moves across the South
Island on Sunday, with strengthening northerlies over the region. The low is
expected to move away to the east and weaken on Monday, with an associated front
slow-moving over the North Island.
Forecast issued at 1658hrs Friday 30-Jul-2010
Valid to midnight Saturday for Inshore waters from Mayor Island to Motiti Island
and then east to Torere River mouth.
Friday:
Variable 5 knots. Sea smooth. Fine weather.
Saturday:
Northeast 10 knots developing in the morning, rising to 15 knots in the
afternoon. Sea slight. Mainly fine, apart from a few light showers developing in
the morning.
Outlook until midnight Tuesday:
Sunday:
Northerly rising to 25 knots in the evening. Rain developing late
afternoon.
Monday:
Northerly 25 knots. Rain at times.
Tuesday:
Northerly 25 knots. Rain.
Swell forecast to midnight Tuesday:
Northerly half a metre developing on Saturday, rising to 1 metre Sunday and 1.5
metres Monday, then 2 metres Tuesday.
